Lectures

This season Scott Wood’s lively lectures – Insider’s Guide to Music – will preview music from the concert to be held the following day.

Next Lecture – Saturday October 1 at 4 pm

Using Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony (“Pastoral”) as a jumping off point, we’ll explore the ways composers have tried to evoke or imitate the natural world in sound. We’ll also hear excerpts from the Double Concerto of Brahms and the haunting “Song to the Moon” from Rusalka as we preview the Amadeus Orchestra concert to be held the following day.

As always, bring your own examples of “natural” music—just let me know what you’ll bring by dropping a message to director@amadeusconcerts.com

Looking forward to seeing you at 4pm at this program in the newly-remodeled Dolley Madison Library!
