James Nickel
Horn
James Nickel is acting Associate Principal horn of the National Symphony Orchestra and previously served as assistant principal horn with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and fourth horn with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed as guest principal horn with ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra and is principal horn of Arizona Musicfest. Nickel is active in chamber music with groups such as the Smithsonian Chamber Players, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, and Washington Symphonic Brass. He teaches through the Kennedy Center Youth Fellowship program and as Adjunct Professor of Horn at George Mason University.
